Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association (MRLA) Board Members came to Lansing for Capitol Day to share the voice of Michigan's hospitality industry!
The day included meetings with Speaker of the House, Jason Wentworth and Senate Majority Leader, Mike Shirkey as well as other key legislators. A major highlight of the day was a joint House and Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee where members testified on behalf of their businesses and shared their personal stories in efforts to encourage immediate action to disperse the American Rescue Plan funds sent to Michigan as soon as possible.
The Joint House & Senate Committee heard testimony from:

• Jermaine Jackson, Executive Chef, Checker Bar and Grand Trunk Pub
• Liz Ware, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mission Point Resort
• Paul Wegert, Managing Director, Inn at St. John’s/CEO of Boutique Hotel Professionals
Their testimonies were impactful and stressed the need for the legislature to take action now.
